Resident Since

All the various things I have experienced since moving in
Moving to Episcopal Homes made a huge difference in my life. Had I stayed in my home of 40 years I would have withered socially and physically. Coming here meant making new friends and learning many new skills. I had been an assistant chaplain here in the 1990s when the campus was only the Church Home and Iris Park Common. I thought I knew what it was going to be like when my husband and I decided to make the move. Was I ever surprised! Since moving in I have learned how to be part of a cabaret, been introduced to graffiti art, tried my hand at painting, and joined the Sage Singers. In the writing group I have worked on my memoirs for my children. I have learned a thing or two from college lectures and various presentations that occur from time to time. It has been quite the journey.
Another blessing has been getting my body back in shape. The walking group meets every morning and in the beginning I could barely walk around the park without getting winded. Now I can manage a mile or more without a problem. Between having people to walk with and also working out in the gym and the pool I have managed to lose 60 pounds and am much healthier than when when I moved in. All of this with the encouragement of fellow residents and staff.
I love living here and am so grateful here
I love living here!
