1928

to

2023

Dale Edward Marquardt was born March 15, 1928 to parents Edward and Frieda (née Kampmeier) along with his twin sister, Doris. They were the second and third of five children (oldest Maxine, with Bernice and Allen following) and were raised on a farm in Chokio, Minnesota. In 1952, Dale met Harriet Goerdt at a local dance, and they were married December 26, 1953. They spent the first five years of marriage farming, then moved their family to the Twin Cities where Dale began working for Western/Delta Airlines. Together, Dale and Harriet raised five children, Sheila, Terry, Linda, Scott and Jean in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Dale retired after 33 years and he and Harriet began spending their winters in Arizona, where they made many lasting friendship.

Dale's life was full of people and hobbies he loved. He enjoyed gardening and always had the most beautiful flowers. He loved to go dancing with Harriet, they polka'd, foxtrotted and waltzed into their 90's. Dale was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed learning about history. He also loved rooting for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Dale was a devoted husband, sharing 69 loving years with Harriet. He was a hardworking father and a proud grandfather. He was a man of strong faith and led a life rich in love. Dale touched so many lives and will be truly missed by all who had the honor to know him.

Dale was preceded in death by infant daughter, Sonia, his parents and two of his sisters. He is survived by beloved wife of 69 years, Harriet; four dalighters and one son, along with their families. He is also survived by his twin sister and only brother.

A very special thanks to Episcopal Church Home and Grace Hospice for their wonderful and loving care given to Dale.
